These Easy-To-Make Moscato Cupcakes Are Perfect For Any Occasion

Everyone from famous rappers to you and your friends can appreciate popping open a nice bottle of Moscato. This sweet wine from Italy is super popular because not only does it taste delicious, but it’s low in alcohol and is almost too easy to drink. Emphasis on almost.

So all you Moscato lovers, this incredibly easy Moscato cupcake recipe is for you! With a Moscato buttercream frosting layered on a fluffy white cupcake, you’re in for a real treat.

This recipe starts with a box of white cake mix (so you know it can’t be that hard). You’ll also need about 2 cups of Moscato, pink food coloring and white nonpareils for decorating your masterpieces. Some of the wine goes right into the cake batter, and the rest is used to flavor the frosting. Just a few drops of food coloring results in pretty pale pink frosting, making these beautiful cupcakes perfect for a wedding shower or birthday party—or anywhere they can be on display before you devour them!

People clearly love Moscato cupcakes—because they are all over Instagram. Look at these gorgeous confections from Alybee Cakes that were served at a wedding shower:

Ready to make some Moscato cupcakes, but need a few baking tips? Here are some tried-and-true methods to help you yield better results:

Directions

1- Preheat oven to 350° and line one muffin tin with 12 cupcake liners.

2- In a large bowl, mix cake mix with 1½ cups Moscato. Bake according to package directions and let cool completely before frosting.

3- Meanwhile, make Moscato frosting: In a large bowl, combine butter, 2 cups powdered sugar, vanilla, salt, and remaining ¼ cup Moscato.

4- Using a hand mixer, beat until smooth. Add the remaining 2 cups powdered sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Separate frosting into 2 bowls, and color one with 3 drops pink food coloring.

5- Spoon frosting, side by side, one color at a time, into a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe frosting onto cooled cupcakes and garnish with nonpareils.

Cheers
